George R. Nugent diary, 16 September 1899-29 April 1900.

Diary of Corporal Nugent from 16 September 1899 to 29 April 1900. He describes his unit's transportation to the Philippine Islands (PI) through Gibraltar, Malta, Port Siad and the Suez Canal in Egypt, Colombo in Ceylon (modern Sri Lanka), and Singapore. Nugent then gives a narrative account of his unit going ashore from the Gunboat 'Helena' in Donsol, PI. His diary describes his unit's actions in Donsol, PI until they were relieved.

Corporal George R. Nugent enlisted in Company A, 47th U.S. Volunteer Infantry Regiment on 16 September 1899 in Baltimore. On 4 Nov 1899, his regiment set sail for the Philippine Islands (PI) on the U.S. Army Transport Thomas of the Philippine Service.
